Building a Community: Citrus Arts launches Colla Pobl Taf - Wales’ First Human Towers Collective.

Rooted in Hopkinstown and Pontypridd, the project is a bold step in connecting local and global communities through intergenerational collaboration, shared skills, and collective celebration - linking local roots with international tradition from the heart of the community.

A Living Cultural Bridge: Colla Pobl Taf

Colla Pobl Taf draws inspiration from the centuries-old Catalan tradition of human towers - a practice recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Citrus Arts are delighted to confirm that Colla Pobl Taf will receive sponsorship and cultural support from Castellers of London and Castellers of London and Colla Joves, Xiquets de Valls, embedding Wales’ first ever collective, within an international network.

Colla Pobl Taf will present work at prominent cultural events across Wales in 2026–27.

For Citrus Arts, Colla Pobl Taf brings together a strong commitment to intergenerational practice, as well as encouraging meaningful opportunity for younger community members, with expertise in large scale outdoor production, and ambition rooted in collective collaboration, and shared commitment, rooted locally, with global outlook.

Training sessions are currently based in Hopkinstown Hall on alternate Friday and Sunday evenings. No previous experience required.  You must be available for the whole course. To find out how to apply to any or all of the courses, or to discuss a young person, your availability or any questions you have, contact James on James@citrusarts.co.uk. If you would like to discuss in Welsh, contact James as above for this to be arranged.
