Job Description - Hall Host

Citrus Arts are seeking a local person to act as a Host at our base at Hopkinstown Hall.

Thanks to Lottery Cost of Living funding, we’re going to be opening up the hall 2 days per week to local people to use as a space to work, hot-desk or meet.

Our Hall Host will be responsible for opening and closing the building, organising resources, preparing the spaces and supporting community members. The most important part of the role is welcoming people and supporting them to make the most of the building, connect with the community and feel that Hopkinstown Hall is a place for them.

They will also help us to support children and adults as they arrive for classes, taking registers and making sure they have all the info they need. For this reason, the successful person will have to undergo a DBS check (organised and paid for by Citrus)

This role is part time, approximately 15 hours a week (we can be flexible) and paid at £10.42 per hour. We envisage hours would be split over a Monday and Wednesday with some early evening hours required.

The role requires a person who:

  • Is on time

  • Is a good communicator; able to talk to people of all ages and backgrounds

  • Is a connector; able to listen, chat, bring people together and create comfortable, welcoming spaces

  • Presents themselves positively, looking for solutions and opportunities to help

  • Is organised and able to keep track of simple schedules  of bookings and class timetables and to plan in advance how to prepare the hall for those sessions.

  • It would be preferable if the person had some digital skills such as being able to fill in online forms or mark registers in digital documents. This is not essential.

  • It would also be preferable if the person had some level of spoken Welsh but this is not essential.

Citrus adopts an “everyday Welsh” approach and we encourage people of all levels (including no Welsh at all) who are involved with us to start using occasional words of Welsh, but we promise to make this fun and inviting. This might involve saying ‘hello’, ‘welcome’  and ‘thank you’ to start with! Most of the team are Welsh learners so we’ll all be on this journey together.

At Citrus we are a supportive employer and will seek to be flexible wherever possible. We will provide and pay for any training or updates required e.g., Disability Awareness Training, First Aid Training etc. The successful Hall Host will be welcomed into our small team and be part of our work inspiring creativity, citizenship and kindness here in Hopkinstown.

If you wish to apply for this role, please send us no more than 1 A4 side explaining why you’re applying and what skills and qualities you have that you’d bring to the role. If you prefer, you can send us an audio recording or video of no more than 2 minutes. You can attach a CV if you like, this is in no way essential.

Please email your application to admin@citrusarts.co.uk by  Tues 11 th July.
