Community Hall

COMMUNITY DIY

Hopkinstown Community Hall is the new name for the Pensioners Welfare Hall in Hopkinstown, Pontypridd. The building is in need of repair and improvement in order to keep being a valuable community resource. The Rhondda Ward Pensioners Welfare Association are currently working with the resident Martial Arts clubs and Citrus Arts to seek support for the building and gather community interest.

Hall is in urgent need of repair in order to continue to be a community resource. The long term aim is to secure funding to complete the major improvements and enable more community activities to run.

In the short term, we would like to do what we can to fix up the hall and to demonstrate the interest, passion and commitment there is to see this building thrive.

On the  advertised weekend above  we would like to invite members of our community to volunteer to help the hall. We will concentrate on the outside of the building - clearing weeds, painting the porch, window sills and railings and cleaning up rubbish and taking broken items to the recycling centre.

If anyone is able to offer some time we would love to hear from you. We are looking for donations of masonry or metal paint and are looking to borrow gardening and painting tools, gloves etc as well.

In addition to above dates, we will continue to work on the building and surrounding area and we would greatly appreciate any donations and time you may be able to offer.

THE HAY LOFT @

Hopkinstown

Community Hall

GET INVOLVED

The Hay Loft @ Hopkinstown Community Hall is the new name for the Rhondda Ward Pensioners Welfare Hall in Hopkinstown, Pontypridd. Previously a Wesleyan church and then used as a hay loft during the first half of the 20th century, the hall has been owned by the Rhondda Ward Old Age Welfare Association since the 1950s. In the past 70 years it has been a valuable community resource that has suffered from lack of investment.  The building is in urgent need of repair and improvement in order to keep being there for community use.

Citrus Arts are working closely with the owners and other users of the building to look at a total re-brand and re-development that will bring the hall into the 21st century. The long term aim is to secure funding to complete the major improvements and enable more community activities to run as well as social, cultural, training, education and employment opportunities.

We need your support to make this happen.

We are beginning a community consultation process and would like to hear your views of what you would like to have at the hall in future. Look out for our events and further publicity or simply get in touch admin@citrusarts.co.uk.
