Call for Artists: Contemporary Circus Commission
Citrus Arts is offering a commissioned opportunity for new circus artists/makers/performers. We are seeking a company to devise and stage a new outdoor contemporary circus show at the Green Man Festival’s Settlement programme from the 15th to the 19th of August 2026.
The Opportunity
We are looking to support an individual or small group who can get creative and develop a new show or an existing idea that may not have been fully developed for outdoor performances.
What we provide

A commission fee of £2000.

Mentoring, rehearsal space, and Green Man Festival Settlement technical support are provided in kind by Citrus Arts.

Creation spaces with aerial rigging and access to outdoor test areas.

Access to a props making studio (wood & metal work).

Expert advice on how to develop a great idea.

A keen, supportive audience of up to 1,500.

Who Should Apply?
We would love to hear from:

Early career artists with training and/or experience in circus/ outdoor arts.

Collectives with a great idea.

People who are realistic about the practicalities of staging aerial circus shows outdoors.

Artists who see themselves as the entrepreneurs of the future, who will benefit from the learning experience we’re offering.

- Please send an Expression of Interest of up to 400 words outlining your experience so far, your idea, and how this commission will benefit you. OR, a video clip of the same (up to 4 mins).

Meet the Mentors
Citrus Arts has a wonderfully supportive mentor team with years of experience in many fields.

James Doyle-Roberts: Co-Founder & Creative Director of Citrus Arts. He has performed, devised & directed contemporary circus shows for Olympic celebrations, Film & TV, and commercial sector. He is an award winner & nominee, and specialises in how to stage shows for touring, commissions, and unusual locations.

Beth House: Executive Director of Citrus Arts. She has a background in theatre for the outdoors that has small-scale touring and inclusivity at its heart. She specialises in nurturing nascent talent, advising new companies to establish themselves and become resilient, and how to care for your audience.

Tammi Brown: Circus Coordinator for Citrus Arts. She has over 25 years experience as a performer, rigger, and coach. As the Founder of Upside Down Circus, she is an expert in helping circus performers find new pathways into their stories and specialises in acrobatics and aerial aspects of contemporary circus.

Bridie Doyle-Roberts: Co-Founder of Citrus Arts, and Director of Stiwdio C. She is an Agent for Change for Craidd, Wales’ leading innovation to improve disability access to the arts for both artists & audiences. She specialises in the integration of disability access with performance and immersive arts.
